Metamodernity Lab

Welcome to the Metamodernity Lab
I’ve always been fascinated by the dance between opposites—joy and sorrow, tradition and innovation, the real and the imagined. Long before I had a name for it, I felt we live within a dynamic tension of opposing concepts. Discovering Metamodernism was a turning point—it gave language to my lifelong observation: that oscillation, not resolution, is the key to understanding our world. My research in virtual environments brings this philosophy to life as I navigate the fluid boundary between the physical and virtual, exploring how we learn, connect, and evolve in both realms.

The search for a meaningful space to archive and extend my research in virtual environments inspired the creation of the Digital Citizenship Outpost in Second Life. Collaborating with ChatGPT, I developed a conceptual map rooted in my own ideas—shaped around the four seasons as symbolic phases of life—where we spiral and oscillate through experiences, ideas, and identities across time and space.

The Digital Citizenship Outpost region in Second Life is currently a dynamic work in progress and it includes Metamodern Hall (Spring), Metaliteracy Commons (Summer), Digital Citizenship which is my over arching passion (Autumn) and AIM- artificial intelligence mountain (Winter) which will explore ethical use of AI with AI bots.
